Frequently Asked Questions:
1.What should I wear?
For clothing, wear something that is comfortable and easy to move in. Business casual is the most common attire (men in dress pants and dress shirt or golf shirt and ladies dress pants or skirt and top). Please bring a clean pair of shoes, you don't need "dance" shoes (although they are easier to dance in), a pair of dress shoes that aren't too sticky on the floor and stay on your feet are the next best option,
2.Do I need a partner?
You don't need a partner! If you are taking private lessons, your teacher would be your partner. In group classes we switch partners, allowing you to dance with different people. We do our best to keep the leader/follower ratio even by asking advanced students to help out.
3.If we come with a partner, do we have to switch?
It is not a requirement that you switch partners, we recommend that you do as it is a great tool to becoming a better dancer!
4.How long will it take to learn?
This really depends on proficient you wish to become and how many dances you want to learn. It's much like learning an instrument, the more you practice, the quicker you will learn.
5.Where should I start?
The best option is to take a formal class, whether it's a group or a private lesson. Group classes are an economical way to start, but private classes are great for those who need flexibility in scheduling or want to learn something specific. You could always show up on a Friday night, we offer an intro class from 8:00-8:45pm and this is a casual way to try it out!
